A little etude for two trebles and one bass
Here is a little something-something for a trio of instruments. Back in olden times (14th Century France), there was a young composer named Baude Cordier. He wrote a famous canon found in the Chantilly Manuscript in the shape of a circle called Tout par compas suy composé ("With a compas was I composed"). It's a charming little piece in the ars subtilior ("more subtler art") style: complex rhythms, coloration (red notes), secular, and eye music (works in unusual shapes). I've transcribed this for my own edification. Take it if you like it.

American Songbag:
He's Gone Away for soprano, oboe, violin and piano
It has been quite a while since last I came to drop off some music. Is there some significance that there is a calendric landmark every time I come to this spot? Maybe.
Composers have more time during holiday seasons to write and scribe their work. I watch for new works coming off composers' desks at Thanksgiving or Christmas, at Spring Break or July 4. Labor Day has come and gone and I have nothing to show -- but, Lo! Autumnal Equinox has arrived and voila!
Carl Sandburg compiled his "American Songbag" from his travels across the USA. Like Woody Guthrie, he made deep connections with the American zeitgeist while on the road. One of those tunes caught my ear: "He's Gone Away." Here is setting of that great American tune. Download for free.
You are welcome. Let me know if you would like the oboe and violin parts by filling out the form.

In the meantime......I offer the slightest hint which work(s) might find their way onto this website. Have you heard the one about the opera buffa based on a retirement home for opera singers?

And finally......the words of Groucho ring in my ear, giving me fair warning that creating websites is a little teensy bit like politics: "...looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies..."
