The Repertoire
It was an invention of necessity. As an ASCAP member, Randall needed an unused name for his company so he might earn the publisher's share of royalties. Davidson Music was taken, and Randall Davidson Music was too similar...and the search for a name (back in the 1970s) was not possible using Google searches. So, he improvised and ended up with the name: Boys Art Music because...
The Plan
We will upload pedagogical and vocal and choral pieces first, then chamber and keyboard music. Eventually, larger ensemble, stage and extended works will be added - some for download and still others for rent. Prices will be affordable for download because printing and binding will be your cost.

The Repertoire
- Choir-Songs: music featuring solo voice or in ensembles. The plan is for most of these scores/parts to be available for download at a minimal cost with a license to copy music for performance but a covenant not to share with others. - Chamber Music: music for two or more musicians (singers included; they will be double-listed in Choir-Songs). The plan is for most scores/parts to be available for download at a minimum cost with a license to copy music for performance but a covenant not to share with others. We will feature works as they come online. If you would like a score/parts before it is available for download, contact us.
- Keyboard Works: music for all kinds of keyboard (not percussion). The plan is for most scores to be available for download at a minimum cost with a license to copy music for performance but a covenant not to share with others. We will feature works as they come online. If you would like a score/parts before it is available for download, contact us.
- Ensemble: music for ten or more musicians. This repertoire is sub-divided on the page into categories: Orchestra, Orchestra + Chorus, Orchestra + soloist, Band. Scores/parts are available for purchase or rent. Vocal-Choral scores in the Orchestra + Chorus category will have a minimum cost with a license to copy music for performance but a covenant not to share with others. - Garrison Keillor Repertoire: a portfolio of music created for Garrison's performances with orchestras. Scores/parts are available for purchase or rent; only some works will eventually be available for download. Perusal score, parts, and recordings are available by contacting us.
- Opera, Dance, Theater: music with dramatic or theatrical elements. These works may require a Grand Rights license from us, depending on circumstances. Scores/parts are available for purchase or rent. Vocal-Choral scores will have a minimum cost with a license to copy music for performance but a covenant not to share with others; only some scores/parts will eventually be available for download. - American Songs (coming soon): a portfolio of settings of traditional "American" songs for voice(s) and instruments. This collection of songs comes from many music traditions and are fashioned as an extension of Carl Sandburg's monumental book, The American Songbag. Details to follow.

- it's a celebration of the Beaux Arts Trio, whose humane approach to music-making he especially admires
- it references the elegant 19th Century French architecture movement that values principles of beauty and grace very highly
- it's a response to Randall's eminent colleague, Susan McClary, who has convinced him of a gender aesthetics...thus a BOYS art music
- no other ASCAP publisher wanted that name
