DOWNLOAD It Is All Right [piano five hands] 1987; 3:30 minutes.
Winner of the Prix du Borúd (named for the famed recording engineer and editor Russ Borud), "It Is All Right" is a speciality piano piece: five hands (primo, secondo and oh-oh written for a volunteer pianist from the audience); Zez Confrey's inspired humorous, programatic (specialty) piano pieces; musical chairs requiring each player to move from the top part to the bottom part of the keyboard during the course of the piece |
DOWNLOAD Knots, a virtuosic humoresque [piano] 1996, rev. 2020; 3 minutes. First written in 1996 and upgraded in 2020 with terrifyingly difficult riffs (or riffifyingly tifficult diffs), Knots is for the brave and patient pianist who understands that virtuosity takes time and perspicacity. One doubts that few 150 second pieces can inspire the kind of dedication it will take to be humoresque. Even thought there is little chance a performance will ever take place, Boys Art Music throws down the gauntlet. Any pianist who successfully executes a credible performance, should expect a worthy prize.

DOWNLOAD LOVE is the thread [cello, congas, organ] 2019; 3:30 minutes.Inspired by the poem of the same name by Rabbi Chaim Stern, Love is the thread, was composed for Vinje Lutheran Church (Willmar MN), Mount Zion Temple (St Paul MN) and Plymouth Congregational Church (Minneapolis); part of the Faith Partners program of the American Composers Forum. This is an adaptation of of a choral work with conga and organ.
The musical form is a "thread" as the last words of a line become the first lines in the next. It is suitable for sacred worship. *** Love is the thread that binds our lives in a lasting fabric which time will fray, Which time will fray, but only to be rewoven by each generation. Each generation will lift the fallen to their feet and hold them as they learn to walk. And as they learn to walk, the sickness of our time will be healed by those who drink deep from ancient wells of truth. From ancient wells of truth they will draw strength to keep faith with those who sleep in the dust... |
